Welcome
to O'Malley's Shanghai- Irish Pub and Restaurant!
Tao
Jiang Road , just off Hengshan Road, is where you'll find
O'Malley's, discretely located in the heart of the beautiful
old French Concession area in Shanghai. This double-story
pub is the first traditional Irish pub in Asia and even today
still sells the most Guinness in China. Our pub caters to
all tastes and requirements. So, whether it be live music,
live sports, a beer garden, darts, a game of pool or a traditional
fireplace you ’ re looking for, you ’ ll find
it in O’Malley's.
The
pub was originally built as a family dwelling at the end of
the 1800's by a wealthy Shanghainese family and remained as
such until liberation in 1949 when the property was handed
over to the local Education Department.
For
the next 40 years, the house & gardens were used as a
junior boarding school and it was in the mid-1990's, after
the school had been abandoned, that Rob Young, publican, prankster
& entrepreneur of note, stumbled apon the property &
decided to build the best Irish pub in China. The rest, as
they say, is history.
